empressissi™ is pleased to offer this all original ELGIN automatic American made top quality watch for men from the late 50s, ready to wear or add to your collection!

The watch houses a nickel finish 760 American made full rotor automatic by Elgin.

Ranfft describes this caliber as follows;
chronometer quality, flat freesprung hairspring, stud carrier regulator with friction gear. DuraBalance regulator: balance with two regulating weights, shifted simultaneously along the spiral-shaped spokes with a regulator lever.
Elgin combined settings (similar to Kif Duofix) for the balance; shock protection is realized by the elastical balance spokes. Indirectly driven minute leaves space for a big balance and a rugged rotor bearing; automatic with two roller freewheels stacked on the rotor hub. Unusual: ratchet only in selfwinding gear, crown mechanism with rocker bar.

Indeed, a very unique and sought after caliber which is in fact, the only known full rotor automatic American made before the Swiss took over completely over the industry. It is running well on 30 jewels, adjusted to 6 positions which makes it an unofficial chronometer. The movement is cased in a 10K monobloc gold filled case in overall very good condition, with an original ELGIN signed crown and mint crystal.

The dial is factory original in nice, lightly aged condition. Circular brushed silver with applied solid gold markers and an original set of hands.

This automatic Elgin watch is a junior size, it measures 30mm side to side (excluding crown) and 36mm from top lug to bottom lug and is considered modest in size, even for vintage watches.

Attached to this watch is a brand new quality genuine leather band in padded dark brown, 16mm wide, with an anti-allergic buckle in a matching tone.

Vintage watches are smaller than today's standards;
