empressissi™ is pleased to offer this all original Lucien Piccard quality automatic Swiss watch for men from the late 50s, ready to wear or add to your collection!
The Lucien Piccard watch brand was founded in Switzerland in 1923, quickly gaining a reputation for high-end, luxurious timepieces and were known for their elegant, slim-line designs. During the 1950s and 1960s, Lucien Piccard was considered a coveted brand, a preferred choice of celebrities and royalty like Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. They were positioned as a luxury, fashion-forward Swiss brand, producing fine mechanical and solid gold watches. While perhaps not on the same technical level as the absolute top-tier houses like Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin, they competed strongly with other premium dress watch manufacturers of the era, known more for style, elegance, and exclusivity than for rugged tool watches.
The watch houses a gilt finish caliber based on A. Schield 1560 with sweep seconds, running on 17 jewels. It is cased in a robust stainless steel case with mint crystal and a good crown.
The dial is in near mint condition and is a true 50s classic; arrow and numerals embossed in gold plated over pearl tone with an original set of hands.
This automatic watch is a full vintage size, measures 35mm side to side (excluding crown) and 43mm from top lug to bottom lug.
Attached to this watch is a brand new quality genuine leather band in padded brown, 18mm wide, with an anti-allergic buckle in a matching tone.
