1933 Rare HAMILTON USA 'Stanley' c. 401 Gents Dress Watch

empressissi™ is pleased to offer this 1933 American Hamilton 'Stanley' model, one of the Explorer Series of watches which also included the Ericsson, Byrd, Andrews, and Livingstone. This 401 caliber is a modified Illinois caliber with an independent sub seconds pinion. The introduction of the 980 Hamilton marked the end of the 401 with a total production of the Explorer series at only 7500 pieces!
The watch houses one of the best American made calibers - the rare 401 manual wind movement with independent sub seconds pinion (that means the hand is not mounted on the 4th wheel but rather on a dedicated pinion without a wheel, similar to this period's Longines legendary 9.47N caliber), running on 19 jewels. It is cased in a 14K gold filled case with very light wear on the lugs, has an original mint mineral crystal and a good crown.
The dial is factory original, it is made of Sterling silver in 'butler' finish with applied solid gold numerals and hard enamel print that will never fade. It has an original set of hands.
This Hamilton watch measures 23mm side to side (excluding crown) and 37,5mm from top lug to bottom lug.
Attached to this watch is a brand new, quality genuine leather band in dark brown tone, 16mm wide, with anti-allergic buckle in matching tone.
