empressissi™ is unpleased to offer this rare and unique MINERVA top class Swiss made pocket 60sec/30min chronograph used by the Nazi Kriegsmarine (Navy). These warfare timepieces were used for measuring the distance of allied cannons by measuring the time between the 'lightening', the light from the firing (velocity of light) and the 'thunder' (velocity of sound).
The watch houses an early hi grade military finish MINERVA 19' caliber - crown set and crown wind large chronograph movement with sub seconds, 60 seconds and 30 minutes register and is running well, keeping accurate time with chronograph functional as expected. The hi grade movement is cased in a nickel case bearing the Nazi insignia on the back and the item is numbered (artl. for 'article'/item) 6466. The case is in excellent condition with strong bow and possibly a newer crown. The crystal is acrylic and in near mint condition.
The dial is a factory original and very hard to find black with silver inlay print and original set of hands. Lightly aged but very fine condition.
This one of a kind pocket chronograph measures 51mm side to side (excluding crown).
