empressissi™ is pleased to offer this incredibly rare 'Louis Brandt' early Omega railroad approved hunter pocket watch from 1905-1906. According to a research and in line with the book 'Omega, a Journey through time', only 90 pieces were made total of this 20 ligne size caliber; it is unknown how many of whom survived two world wars and another half a decade.
The DR Grade 'Louis Brandt' (The person who established Omega) is based on Omega's 19 ligne caliber which was the first Swiss serial production and a most successful caliber, much responsible for Omega's early reputation. Later Omega based several grades on this design to try to compete with railroad approved watches in the American market, this is one of them.
This watch is part of a large 'Virginia Collection' we offer for sale, from an avid collector of mostly American made solid gold watches.
The watch houses an early and very rare 20 ligne size Swiss OMEGA large hi grade nickel finish crown wind, lever set movement in overall excellent condition, running strong and keeping accurate time with sub seconds. This movement is one of only 90 documented hunter style size 20 ligne ever made and the serial number on the movement is consistent with the research database.
The movement is cased in a fine, large, impressive and heavy hunter case in hunting motif in 14K solid yellow gold tone LEON W. Co. case with other decorations with a a tight bow, good crown, tight hinges and good lift spring, mint mineral crystal and overall fantastic condition with internal dust cover in 14K solid gold as well.
The dial is a factory original with elegant large Roman numerals and 24 hours sub dial on white enamel with no signs of damage apart of a faint residue of the name 'Louis Brandt Freres' which was probably printed on the dial and not baked. The watch has its original set of classic hands.
This fantastic OMEGA pocket watch measures 56mm side to side (excluding crown), The case alone weighs 69g without the crystal and movement.
