empressissi™ is pleased to offer this amazing high grade pocket watch of the finest standards from 1870 with an extra fine gilt finish movement of unknown maker, possibly a Jurgensen or Vacheron, cased in a 18K solid yellow gold case with unique exposed back.
The watch houses an early example of a stem wind/pinset gilt finish ebauche caliber. In that period of time only a handful of makers already started using the crown winding technology. It is in overall excellent condition, running on 15 jewels with wolf teeth gears. The movement is running strong, keeping accurate time with sub seconds. It is cased in a unique tested 18K solid yellow gold case, engraved on the side C.H. Sturgis and on the opposite side 8th June 1870. It has an original bow and crown in great shape and an exposed back showing the movement which appears to be original, hence possibly a salesman sample.
The dial is a factory original classic enamel white with no visible damage featuring Roman numerals and original decorated and most elegant set of hands.
This beautiful and finely made pocket watch measures 40mm side to side.
