1885 J.W. BENSON Early English KWKS Silver Pocket Watch
empressissi™ is pleased to offer this very early large 19th century period English pocket watch for gents, made by the famous J.W. Benson in 1885.
The watch houses an early KWKS (Key Wind, Key Set) English retailed and made by J.W. Benson which was for years one of the leading English mass production pocket watch makers. The movement is marked as not less than 'Best London Make' and the model known as The 'Ludgate' Watch is a classic English lever watch with 11-13 jewels. The movement is working well and keeping good time. It is cased in a fantastic heavy open face case with clear London 1885 hallmarks and has a dust cover, all silver made in classic English design and has worn exteriors for obvious reasons. It is supplied with a key. It has a lightly used mineral crystal and a free bow, possibly a replacement. This is a fine example of an early English lever watch for the collector.
The dial is a factory original and exposes this maker's name. It is in near mint condition with no visible damage and has an original set of hands.
This one of a kind pocket watch measures 50mm side to side (excluding crown).
