empressissi™ is pleased to offer this extra fine, rare and in amazing condition F. Jaquet & Girard of La Chaux-de-Fonds pocket watch chronometer with helical hairspring and detent escapement, similar to Marine chronometers of the finest standards from the late 19th century. It is most likely that this particular watch and possibly the whole series were a special custom order delivered to an academic, government or any official research institute as they do not carry any hallmarks or essential identification trademarks which were common in commercial items.
The watch houses an early numbered top class chronometer with helical hairspring and detent escapement that is highly accurate and sought after time measuring instrument made by F. Jaquet & Girard of La Chaux-de-Fonds, a small boutique brand from Switzerland established in the early 20th century. For obvious reasons, the movement is lever set. The watch is running well and keeping accurate time. It is cased in a hunter (Savonette) 18K solid gold case with gold cuvette matching the chronometer number. The case is in excellent all around condition; Strong bow, original crown, good hinges and lift spring. The case features a cuvette in addition to a back window exposing the interesting movement. The case is very heavy in gold content.
The dial is a factory original white enamel with sunken sub seconds and classic Roman numerals, in excellent condition with minor signs and has an original set of decorated hands.
This fantastic Swiss pocket watch measures 55,5mm side to side (excluding crown).
