This watch is part of a large and mostly impressive, museum level collection of a retired IAF pilot that we are delighted to offer for sale in our website. In 2016 we serviced a small portion of his collection that was later auctioned at Christie's Geneve. We are now pleased to offer the substantial part of the collection for sale; these include repeaters, chronographs, Hunter-cases (Savonettes) and open faces, most complex and interesting antique Swiss and American pocket watches of the finest standards.
The watch houses an early lever set Fontainmelon (Pre-FHF) caliber which is made of German silver and finished with elegant decorations, in overall excellent condition, running on 16 jewels. It is properly Swiss hallmarked and running strong, keeping accurate time with sub seconds. The movement is cased in a large 14K solid rose gold 'Savonette' (Hunter style) case with elegant scallop decoration on the edges and a large solid gold impressive initials. Good gold bow and crown, good hinges and lift spring, mint savonette acrylic crystal and overall fantastic condition with internal dust cover from 14K solid gold as well. The thick case weighs a net weight of 54g of gold.
The dial is a factory original enamel white with no visible damage featuring Roman numerals and original elaborated and most elegant set of gilt hands.
