empressissi™ is pleased to offer this amazing, heavy American Waltham pocket watch in solid 18K gold case. Further testing of the gold proved this is indeed above 14K but lower than 18K (dissolving acid method) so according to the common standard of the time this was probably legit 18K but in today's more accurate standards, it should be noted/considered 15K+ gold. The watch was serviced in our atelier, it is working flawlessly, keeping good time.
This watch is part of a large 'Virginia Collection' we offer for sale, from an avid collector of mostly American made solid gold watches.
The watch houses an early crown wind/crown set 'A.W.W. Co.' Model 1899 movement in gilt finish, in 16 size, estimated to 1901 and is pretty uncommon as only 5'000 such movements were in production in total. The movement is working well, keeping good time.
The movement is cased in a a truly one of a kind hexagon shaped 'French countryside' motif designed E.T. & Co. 18K solid yellow gold case with the finest hand made decorations to front, back, inside and out and even the bezel as shown in the pictures, in heavy gauge gold. The case has an interesting hinged bezel with near mint mineral crystal, good lift spring, original bow and crown with little wear and gold loss.
The dial is a factory original white enamel with sunken sub seconds and Roman numerals design with no visible damage. This dial comes with an original set of hands.
This fantastic American pocket watch measures 53mm side to side (excluding crown), The case alone weighs 64g without the crystal and movement.
