1904 OMEGA 14K Gold Large Hunter/Savonette Pocket Watch
empressissi™ is pleased to offer this amazing, all original OMEGA sought after large 'hunter' style pocket watch for men, in 14K solid gold.
This watch is part of a large and mostly impressive, museum level collection of a retired IAF pilot that we are delighted to offer for sale in our website. In 2016 we serviced a small portion of his collection that was later auctioned at Christie's Geneve. We are now pleased to offer the substantial part of the collection for sale; these include repeaters, chronographs, Hunter-cases (Savonettes) and open faces pocket watches of some interesting brands. We have several IWC Pocket watch models as well as other antique pocket watches from Swiss and American established makers.
The watch houses an early large OMEGA crown wind/crown set caliber in gilt finish,in overall excellent condition, running on 17 jewels with gold chatons. On the dial side the movement is marked with the serial number 2412080 which suggests it was made in 1904-1905 according to public serial records. The movement is cased in a large 14K solid yellow gold 'Savonette' (Hunter style) case with firm solid gold bow, original crown and mint savonette acrylic crystal. The case exhibits several dings and dents as can be seen in the photos and the front cover opens to about 110 degrees but overall it is in good condition, with all hinges functional and shutting close properly, with internal dust cover from 14K solid gold as well. The thick case, which weighs a net weight of 40g of gold has elegant turned engine decorations with central floral motif with an open cartouche.
The dial is a factory original enamel white with no visible damage featuring Arabic numerals and elegant set of slim golden hands.
This one of a kind Omega pocket watch measures 53mm side to side (excluding crown).
