empressissi™ is pleased to offer this early and sought after Art Deco GRUEN wrist watch for men - a unique model from the late 20s in white gold filled case with a classic Art Deco cushion design.
The watch houses an early Guild 705 manual wind caliber, running well on 15 jewels with sub seconds. It is cased in a cushion shaped 14K white gold filled case with modest decorations in Art Deco motif on the sides. The watch has a mint crystal and original crown. This case model ref is 705-1.
The dial is a 100% factory original hard enamel light creme dial with distinctive Art Deco figures and original set of hands that was cleaned and restored, maintaining its original 'print' which in practical terms is 'baked' on the dial, unlike later printed dials. The luminous material on this dial has been restored with non-toxic Super-Luminova™ instead of the original hazardous Radium. This was also applied to the original set of hands.
This rare Gruen watch measures 27mm side to side (excluding crown) and 34,5mm from top lug to bottom lug and is modest in size even in vintage standards.
Attached to this watch is a brand new quality slim military style genuine leather band in dark brown, 16mm wide with an anti-allergic white tone buckle.
